Recovering from Your Procedure

Thanks to IV sedation, most patients have little to no memory of their procedure. After the numbness fades, you may experience some discomfort and soreness for the first week — this is normal. We will provide pain medication to help you manage any discomfort.

The First Week After Surgery

Rest is Essential

Plan to rest for at least 24-48 hours after your procedure. Most patients feel well enough to return to light activities within a few days.

Manage Swelling

Use ice packs on your cheeks for 15-20 minutes at a time during the first 48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising.

Soft Food Diet

Stick to soft foods like soups, yogurt, smoothies, and mashed potatoes for the first week. Avoid crunchy, chewy, or spicy foods that could irritate the surgical sites.

Long-Term Implant Care

With proper care, your dental implants can last a lifetime. Here's how to protect your investment:

Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush
Floss around implants daily (use a water flosser if needed)
Attend regular dental checkups and cleanings
Avoid smoking, which can compromise implant success
Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth
Contact us immediately if you notice any issues
